I am originally from Minnesota so I really should be doing this project in my hometown. But Boston has the right to complain about winters too so I recently spent a morning driving around looking for people who have to be in the cold for their job.

I made these photos at the make-shift memorials on Boylston Street in the days following the Boston Marathon bombing. I went there with no real idea of what or how I was going to make Boston Marathon bombing memorial pictures. What struck me most when I arrived were the faces of those looking not only at the memorials but also down the three and a half blocks on Boylston Street to where the Boston Marathon bombs exploded. It has now been a month to the day since the tragedy occurred. The Back Bay has been open for three weeks and there is barely a sign of what happened near the Boston Marathon finish line. But the faces at Copley Plaza, where the memorials were moved to, are still same. Sad that something like this happened and hopeful that it will never again.
