I photographed Tomás Palacios, the Emmanuel E. Landsman Career Development Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology for the MIT News service. The story is about Palacios’ work using ‘extreme materials’ such as gallium nitride and graphene to make electronics faster, more energy efficient and more affordable. He is also looking at new ways to use the materials as chemical and biological sensors like in glucose levels in blood samples.
