John Fish Photographed for Engineering News-Record Cover Story

I had the pleasure of photographing John Fish, the CEO of Suffolk Construction, last month for the cover story in Engineering News-Record Magazine. It was honestly one of the best jobs I have photographed recently due to the incredible friendliness of Mr. Fish and his employees. They could not have been nicer or more accommodating.

New York Times Front Page Printed Edition!

My photo of Andy Tranfaglia, who suffers from Fragile X syndrome, and his mother Katie Clapp at their home in West Newbury, MA lands on the front page of the New York Times printed edition! The story is about promising new drug research that may help people with the mental disorder. It was a great story to be a part of and I really appreciate the opportunity to be let into the Tranfaglia/Clapp family’s lives for a little while. Andy is very shy around new people but we got along great. Apparently I got a pass since I drive a Jeep Wrangler and talked about one of his favorite TV shows, the Wiggles. My daughter is also a big fan!

I photographed a philosophy class in Springfield, MA for a story in the New York Times. What made the philosophy class so interesting was that it was for second graders. They listened to a reading of the book “The Giving Tree” and then debated its moral points. I was delighted last night to see my photo and the story featured on the front page of the NY Times website.

New York Times Clip- Haitian Earthquake Victims

I photographed an incredible follow-up story for the New York Times yesterday. Jean Paul Coffy went to Haiti to find his parents six days after the earthquake. He found them alive in the ruins of their home. His father was unhurt but his mother suffered a broken leg. The family spent the following months trying to get to the United States sleeping in halls of hospitals in the Dominican Republic arriving finally last Saturday. I had the great pleasure of photographing Barry Katz and his daughter Lauren at their home in Sudbury, MA for Guideposts Magazine. Barry is the founder of Lotsahelpinghands.com, a website that people dealing with a family illness can sign up for free of charge to let their friends and family know what they could use during their time of need. It is a great idea to help organize the efforts of those who want to help a family overwhelmed by crisis. You can create a calender online that shows what kind of help is needed and lets volunteers sign up for specific tasks like rides, childcare, meals, etc… The concept was born out of Mr. Katz’s own experience with illness after he lost his wife Carole to ovarian cancer.

I photographed a story for the New York Times about playwright Lydia Diamond and Peter Dubois, artistic director of the Huntington Theatre Company in Boston who is staging Diamond’s play “Stick Fly.” Diamond and Dubois where a blast to photograph together.
