I photographed a philosophy class in Springfield, MA for a story in the New York Times. What made the philosophy class so interesting was that it was for second graders. They listened to a reading of the book “The Giving Tree” and then debated its moral points. I was delighted last night to see my photo and the story featured on the front page of the NY Times website.

I photographed an incredible follow-up story for the New York Times yesterday. Jean Paul Coffy went to Haiti to find his parents six days after the earthquake. He found them alive in the ruins of their home. His father was unhurt but his mother suffered a broken leg. The family spent the following months trying to get to the United States sleeping in halls of hospitals in the Dominican Republic arriving finally last Saturday. I photographed a story for the New York Times about playwright Lydia Diamond and Peter Dubois, artistic director of the Huntington Theatre Company in Boston who is staging Diamond’s play “Stick Fly.” Diamond and Dubois where a blast to photograph together.

I had the pleasure of working with New York Times reporter Arthur Sulzberger on a story about how even Hyannisport, the home of the Kennedy compound, went for Scott Brown in the recent MA special election to fill Ted Kennedy’s senate seat. I was surprised to find out that this was far from the first time his hometown went for one of his challengers.

Photographed the now Senator Elect from Massachusetts Scott Brown last night at the Republican Election Night Headquarters at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel for the New York Times.

I photographed Tara Connelly, the vice-president of the Cambridge Running Club, near Harvard Square in Cambridge, MA for a feature in the New York Times newspaper. The story is about how she gear tested five different running jackets for the publication.

A very interesting story about Northeastern University’s Matthew Arena in Boston. It is the oldest indoor hockey rink still in use in the world. Formally known as the Boston Arena, it was the home of the Boston Celtics and the Boston Bruins.

A story by Michael Cooper photographed for the NY Times National Desk about construction workers in Fitchburg, MA and how they are being effected by the slow down in work. The Federal stimulus plan created some construction projects in the area but mostly only for small “shovel ready” jobs that could get off the ground quickly like repaving roads. Now since the cold of New England has moved in, work has all but stopped completely.
