My photo of Andy Tranfaglia, who suffers from Fragile X syndrome, and his mother Katie Clapp at their home in West Newbury, MA lands on the front page of the New York Times printed edition! The story is about promising new drug research that may help people with the mental disorder. It was a great story to be a part of and I really appreciate the opportunity to be let into the Tranfaglia/Clapp family’s lives for a little while. Andy is very shy around new people but we got along great. Apparently I got a pass since I drive a Jeep Wrangler and talked about one of his favorite TV shows, the Wiggles. My daughter is also a big fan!

I photographed an incredible follow-up story for the New York Times yesterday. Jean Paul Coffy went to Haiti to find his parents six days after the earthquake. He found them alive in the ruins of their home. His father was unhurt but his mother suffered a broken leg. The family spent the following months trying to get to the United States sleeping in halls of hospitals in the Dominican Republic arriving finally last Saturday. Read the original story for all of the amazing details.
